Rep. Patrice Arent, D-Millcreek, speaks with Girl Scout Gold Award recipients Ciarra, left, Sophie, Cheyenne and Tiffany at the Capitol in Salt Lake City on Thursday.

As part of the annual Girl Scouts of Utah Cookie Day on the Hill, recipients of the 2015 Girl Scouts Gold Award were invited by Rep. Sophia DiCaro, R-West Valley City, to sit on the House floor with their state representatives, a privilege usually extended to dignitaries and legislators’ family members.

The Gold Award is the highest achievement within Girl Scouts of the USA and is earned by Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts. To earn the award, Girl Scouts spend a minimum of 80 hours planning and implementing a “Take Action” project — a project that has long-term benefits that reaches beyond the Girl Scout organization and provides a lasting benefit to the community.
