Salt Lake City, UT – Girl Scouts of Utah is inviting girls, grades K-12 and volunteers to join in the fun, adventure, friendship, and self-discovery that Girl Scouts offers year round. Girl Scouts builds girls of courage, confidence, and character who make our community a better place.

And, the Council wants the public to know that it’s more than just cookies. With Girl Scouts, girls have the opportunity to make friends, try new things and discover their strength and independence through outdoor adventures. Girls also learn essential life skills like goal setting, money management, communication skills and business ethics – all skills that will help girls succeed in school and life.

“Girl Scouts has given me the chance to develop leadership skills and experience a variety of activities.” Girl Scout, Kaatje, said of her experience. “Girl Scouts has also taught me how to voice my opinions effectively so that I can make a change in my community as a leader and learner.”

Troops are girl-led (under the guidance of troop leadership) and tailored to meet the unique needs of their neighborhood. Girls are given the opportunity to create their own experiences and make their own decisions with well-trained volunteers who are there to facilitate the experience.

“Each troop starts with the basics: a nationally developed, research-based curriculum designed specifically for Utah girls,” said Janet Frasier, CEO of Girl Scouts of Utah. “Then it’s up to the girls and their volunteer troop leaders to decide how they want to spend their time as they explore their capabilities – everything from local community service to rock climbing and computer programming to horseback riding and photography. Girl Scouts offers programs, activities, and badges for nearly every interest and for every girl.”
