Brian
understands that if you want to send a message straight to its
target, you must first take careful aim. Therefore, each
communications strategy he develops is backed by thorough research
and strong attention to detail. This philosophy, as well as
excellent writing skills, honed through his experience as a
journalist and public relations professional, is put into practice
to achieve positive long-term communications results for clients.
With 20 years as a communications
professional, Brian’s expertise focuses on reputation management,
message development and research and planning. What’s more, he
understands precisely how, when and why to use the tools needed to
drive home the message, whether they be media relations, community
relations or advertising, to name just a few.
Brian serves as a communications
researcher, planner and strategist for a wide variety of clients
served by Wilkinson Ferrari & Co.. These include the Utah
Department of Transportation, Utah School and Institutional Trust
Lands Administration, Kennecott Development Company, Washington
State Department of Transportation, Minnesota Department of
Transportation and the Institute for State Studies.
Brian co-founded Wilkinson Ferrari
& Co. Public Relations in 1993 with Lindsey Ferrari, a firm that
was named one of Utah’s 100 fastest-growing companies in 1998,
1999 and 2001 and which has been a perennial winner of multiple
public relations awards.
Previously, Brian was an
independent communications consultant and held a variety of public
relations positions in the private sector and local government. He
began his career as staff writer for The Salt Lake Tribune,
covering government issues.
Brian graduated from the University
of Utah with a bachelor of arts degree in communication. He also
completed the Rocky Mountain Program for elected and appointed
government managers, sponsored by the University of Colorado at
Denver's Center for the Improvement of Public Management. Brian is
accredited by the Public Relations Society of America and served
as 1999 president of PRSA's Greater Salt Lake Chapter. He is also
a former chair of the Salt Lake City Arts Council board and U.S.
membership vice president of IPREX, a partnership of more than 50
independently owned public relations firms around the world.
