Mimi Charles
Public Involvement Manager
Mimi
has more than 20 years of public involvement experience. Her
current public involvement work includes the Provo Canyon,
Wildwood to Deer Creek project and the Federal Highway
Administration’s and Idaho Transportation Department’s Timmerman
to Ketchum Environmental Analysis. Mimi’s community media and
public relations work has included Jordan Valley Water Conservancy
District “Slow the Flow” water conservation education campaign,
Utah County I-15 Corridor Management Plan Study, and Kennecott
Development Company’s “Sunrise” project.
Mimi has strong analytical and
communication skills. Previous to her employment at WF&Co.., Mimi
was a project manager for Bear West Company, an environmental
land-use planning firm in Salt Lake City. As project manager, Mimi
gained extensive experience in client, stakeholder, public,
government and community relations, National Environmental Policy
Act (NEPA) implementation, public involvement and project
management. Mimi’s responsibilities included NEPA implementation
consultation, NEPA public involvement, meeting facilitation and
document preparation in large public projects such as the Bureau
of Land Management’s preparation of the Questar, Williams and Kern
River Pipeline Expansion Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), the
U.S. Forest Service’s preparation of the Brighton Ski Resort EIS
and the development of resource management plans for U.S. Bureau
of Reclamation’s Lost Creek Reservoir, Starvation Reservoir, Deer
Creek Reservoir and Willard Bay Reservoir.
Prior to working for Bear West,
Mimi served as Salt Lake City Mayor Palmer DePaulis’s Deputy Chief
of Staff and Utah Governor Scott M. Matheson’s Executive
Assistant. In both capacities, Mimi was involved in long- and
short-range public policy development and local, regional and
national intergovernmental relations and public and community
involvement. Mimi is a member of IAP2, the International
Association of Public Participation.
